My name is Lawrence Kojo Tsimese. I was named directly after my father so for most of my school days I signed junior as part of my name. I was born at Takoradi in the Western region of Ghana where my mother hails from. My father comes from Aflao in the Volta region of Ghana. Both parents, who are now deceased, were blessed with five children (3 boys and 2 girls) of whom I am the eldest.
After completing my primary education in June 1979, I attended senior high school at Denu in the Volta Region of Ghana. Determined to further my education in Agriculture at the tertiary level, I was admitted to pursue a 3-year course of study in General Agriculture at the Nyankpala Agricultural College at Tamale in northern Ghana.
After graduation, I worked with Ghana government’s Ministry of Agriculture as Agriculture Extension agent attached to the ministry’s Information Support Unit. Due to the nature of my work, which involved the development and production of Agriculture Information Literature and other training materials within the framework of farmers’ extension/education, I found it necessary to pursue a two-year course of study with Penn Foster Career College in Journalism (Diploma granted).
In the year 2002, I was offered admission to pursue an Associate Degree in Ecological Land Use with the Institute of Social Ecology, in Plainfield, Vermont, USA. The following year I came into contact with Steve Atherton of The Fishermen Ministry (TFM) before I went to live in Worcester MA. Whilst staying in Worcester MA, I maintained communication with Steve, so eventually in 2007 decided to go back to Vermont to undergo discipleship with the TFM.
I am married to Mary and we have 4 children. Valentina, the eldest married Emmanuel Jackson in October 2016. The rest – Emmanuel, Godson and Alexandrina – are pursuing various academic courses at the tertiary level in Ghana.
Currently I live with my family at Saki, near Michel Camp in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. I work as Administrator for my brother John’s Pest Control Company with their office close to my residence. The office location is the same as my Christian ministry office from where I operate and coordinate affairs of The Fishermen Ministry of which I am the Africa coordinator.
