SPEAKERS:
- Richard Eutsler, Sr.
- Steven Atherton
- Paul Muller
- Charles Hocker
- Richard Eutsler, Jr.
SCRIPTURES USED:
- Jude 1:1-11
SUBJECT:
- Jude – Jesus’ half-brother. James (not one of the eleven), Jude’s brother, was also Jesus’ half-brother.
- Servant – during Jesus’ ministry his family, including Jude, struggled with him. Jude’s heart had changed and now he was a bond slave of Jesus Christ, one who had given up his own will to serve the Lord.
- The pickle sermon. Sanctified – to be separated, put apart. God determined who was separated.
- Christ Jesus preserves them.
- Mercy, peace, love – not applied to everyone but to those who come under this heading.
- Mercy – you can’t receive mercy unless you acknowledge your need for mercy.
- Peace – you can’t have peace unless you acknowledge you have been at war with God.
- Love – you can’t receive God’s love unless you turn from yourself, make it all about Jesus, not about you.
- Walk of faith means dealing with issues and putting things off. People don’t like to because these things justify them.
- Common salvation – there is only one salvation, by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
- He had to give all diligence to write – it was needful – you have to earnestly contend for the faith. Got to get back to the original faith that was preached.
- Crept in unawares – these people were pre-ordained unto condemnation – the seed of Satan. Came in looking better than others, all about themselves, they think they are good.
- Got to put off the notion that there is any way to establish your own righteousness.
- An extraordinary act of faith to accept the forgiveness of Christ and go forth in it.
- Children of Israel who were saved out of the land of Egypt – a type and shadow of the three baptisms: blood – the Passover lamb, water – passing over the Red Sea, being separated from the world, safe from the world. Spirit – only Joshua and Caleb entered into the promised land (though Moses, Aaron and Miriam went to heaven). The rest perished because they would not believe God and go forward in Him.
- Angels who left their first estate and are reserved in chains – they knew the consequences of their actions. They were in heaven and were cast out. Shows you can go to heaven and be rejected and go to hell. If not, how could these angels do it? God gives us a free will here on earth and in heaven. He wants a people who will freely choose Him and serve Him.
- First two commandments – if you keep these it is impossible to have anything but perfect peace. Without them, it is impossible to have it.
- Exercising yourself in choosing Him – not easy but the reward is great.
- Strange flesh – homosexuality
- Despise dominion – not talking about civil government.
- Dignities – those God has established in these offices.
- Sad thing – they think they are doing God’s work.
- Way of Cain – these people offer the works of their flesh.
- Balaam – a prophet of God but the money was more important to him than God and His Word.
- Core – a Levite, he came against Moses – who does he think he is. I don’t have to listen to you, God is with all of us.
- Brute beasts – talking about spiritual things but from their natural understanding.
- If you feel you are leaning at all towards any of these things don’t reject it – fall on your face and call upon God for help.
Service Notes For Tuesday 2014-04-15 Men’s Bible Study on Jude
SPEAKERS:
- Richard Eutsler, Sr.
- Steven Atherton
- Paul Muller
- Charles Hocker
- Richard Eutsler, Jr.
SCRIPTURES USED:
- Jude 1:12-25
SUBJECT:
- You can’t receive God’s mercy if you think you are good.
- Spots in your feasts – referring to the Lord’s supper. You partake because you believe in the sufficiency of the blood. This in contrast to those who think they are worthy.
- Clouds without water – they do not have the Spirit.
- People misuse Thy will be done. When Jesus said it He knew exactly what God’s will was. Look at the disciple’s prayer: Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. If you want to know what His will is on earth find out what His will is in heaven. Does He want sickness, cancer, demon possession in heaven?
- Everything testifies that we are evil and yet people think themselves good.
- A true Christian recognizes they are evil and that there is no other way they can be saved but by the blood of Jesus Christ. Therefore they are not hypocrites.
- Twice dead – when they were born they were dead, when they die they are twice dead.
- Anyone who knows the truth – they can hear the vanity of these people.
- There is a lot of stuff that is false – that is why we need to know the Word, be rooted and grounded in the truth.
- Spoken against Him – Jesus, and not just Jesus but all those who walk in His body.
- Lord comes with ten thousand of his saints – referring to the battle of Armageddon. Saints throughout the ages who take the place of fallen angels. John 1: 12, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”
- Nature of God – love, humility, mercy, grace.
- Ungodly – they don’t have the agape love, they’re not humble, they’re prideful, stiff necked, hard hearted.
- Christ came to save the ungodly because we all, by nature, are ungodly.
- Murmurers – does it with himself.
- Complainers – do it to others.
- Lust is covetousness, your own wants.
- Mocker – mock the Gospel, almost daring God to do something. They have separated themselves, don’t necessarily leave the church but separate themselves from the leadership and doctrine spoken of by the Word.
- Praying in the Holy Ghost – praying in tongues. Whole point of praying in tongues is the carnal man is not edified, only the spiritual man is. It is one of the tools God has given us.
- Keep yourselves in the love of God – it is up to you to do.
- Looking for the mercy – you would not be looking for the mercy if you did not know you deserved judgment.
- Keep yourself in the knowledge that you are in dire need of God’s mercy.
- Of some have compassion – those who know they are worthless.
- And others save with fear – those who exalt themselves.
- The falling is falling from grace. If you fall from grace you’re going to hell.
- Jesus is able to present you faultless.
- Exceeding joy – both for you and for Him.
- When you realize the glory and power belong to Him, now you can walk in humility.
- Garment spotted by the flesh – when you accept Christ God gives you his righteousness. When you go about in pride you spot that garment.
