Service Notes For Sunday South Carolina 2020-04-26

SPEAKERS:

  • Phillip Walthall
  • Steven Atherton

SCRIPTURES USED:

  • 1 Kings 15:1-5, Psalm 61, Psalm 25

SUBJECT:

  • Your job as a Christian is to manifest Christ.
  • This time of quarantine and social distancing is an opportunity to love those right next to you, an opportunity to be perfected to love those with God’s love. How loving have you been at home? How loving have you been to the people right next to you who you’ve been quarantined with for a long time? If you can’t love those within your household and body you are not going to love those people without who don’t know Christ.
  • You’re responsible and accountable for your response and reaction to people and situations.  Is your response of Christ or of yourself?
  • You can’t have His life as long as you’re hanging onto yours. The more you let go of your life you can pick up His.
  • The beautiful thing about crap coming to the surface is you could become free of it if you let it go.
  • What do you want? Do you want to walk in love, do you want the Lord Jesus Christ and His life or do you want yours? Choose Christ, choose to love, be about His business, choose to want Christ and what He has!
  • If Christ takes the base things of the world to confound the wise, what is there about you that is better than anyone else?
  • The question of why is this happening is that you are not at all like David, you actually think you deserve better than what you have.  David never considered himself deserving of anything.
  • David realized every single day that he was in a desperate state and every single day he needed God, God didn’t need Him.
  • Know that Christ doesn’t owe you a thing and you owe Him everything. When you begin your day with that knowledge, you get far better than you deserve.
  • When you take your walk with Christ seriously, humble yourself and seek Him, you can now walk in Him.
  • If you are trusting in yourself you have nothing to trust in, man at his best is vanity. Despite your shortcomings He is trustworthy.
  • Do like David did and God will be able to use you.
