SUBJECT:

  • Ruth showed the extraordinary love of Christ to Naomi when she served her and stayed with her in spite or Ruth’s bad attitude and sorrow.
  • Read the story of Ruth as if you’re a person passing through what happened.
  • Boaz was an old man, Ruth was a beautiful young woman.
  • Ruth was from Moab – one of the countries that came from Lot.  She was married to an Israelite and lived in a land of famine.  Her husband, father-in-law and brother-in-law died.  This situation would make most people believe that the God of Israel is not a God that they want to go after.
  • We are so addicted to how things go after the flesh that we can not see the hand of God moving.
  • The Bible is full of examples of people in really bad situations where God moves.  Joseph is a great example.
  • Ruth chose to cleave to the God of Israel regardless of anything around her.  She had a hope that transcended the hope of Naomi.
  • If you are a young woman, what are you looking for?  Most likely a young, good looking, wealthy husband.  Ruth did not spend any time at all looking for that, she spent her time gathering of that which was left behind for the poor.  Everyone would have known she was poor.
  • Just because we look at people in the Bible and think WOW, does not mean that anyone who was alive while these stories were going on, were amazed or in awe of what was happening at the time.
  • Where is your hope?  Where is your mindset?  Is it that you don’t want to miss anything that you see everyone else getting?  If that’s your mindset, you will never receive anything of the kingdom of God.
  • If you don’t esteem the things of God above the things of this world, what makes you think you would go into His Kingdom welcomed in as His good and faithful servant?
  • That’s what Ruth evidenced, that’s what the stories in the Bible evidence.  You can have that too, go after it.
